Administrative assistant - Part-time

We are seeking to recruit a part-time Administrative assistant for a fixed one year term (although this period is flexible), contract renewable by agreement.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Sorting various printed correspondence (emails, post, faxes, and telephone notes), onto appropriate case files in storage, and organising the files taking deadlines/apparent urgency into account.
  • Obtaining files from storage that according to the diary require imminent action.
  • Updating diary sheets on individual files with details of actions that have been done and actions to do.
  • Preparing emails, post, and faxes.
  • Monitoring outgoing correspondence until receipt, e.g. using Royal Mail tracking.

The role will be for a minimum of about 8 hours a week, spread over two days per week, preferably Monday and Tuesday mornings. There is flexibility in the role, by agreement.

Experience of working with a deadline-driven commercial legal services provider is preferable, but not essential.

The role will suit someone based in Birmingham.

Salary will be competitive and will reflect education and experience.


Patent Administrator - Part-time

The candidate will have the Certificate in Patent Administration from CIPA.

Duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Monitoring deadlines on files, and correspondence, and liaising with fee-earners to manage deadlines
  • Diary management, arranging meetings, accommodation and travel arrangements
  • Preparation of UK, EP and PCT patent applications, using relevant software based systems
  • Preparation of correspondence to clients, IP Offices, and suppliers
  • Preparing cost estimates for filing new patent applications. 

Depending on experience, duties may also include:

  • Preparation of UK, EU and International design/trademark applications, using relevant software based systems.

The role will suit an IP administrator who is able to work proactively and conscientiously with minimal supervision.

Business Development Assistant - Part-time or freelance

We are seeking to recruit a part-time or freelance Business Development Assistant. The role comprises marketing to new clients, and attending marketing events on behalf of the company. Experience of working with a legal services provider would be advantageous but is not essential. The role permits remote working but would necessitate meeting in Birmingham when appropriate. The role will be for a minimum of about 4 hours a week, spread over two days per week, preferably Monday and Tuesday mornings. There is flexibility in the role, by agreement. Salary will be competitive and will reflect education and experience.

Registered UK Patent Attorney - Freelance

From time to time we require a Registered UK Patent Attorney to assist us on temporary projects. The person can usually work remotely. Such a role would suit an in-house attorney looking for private practice work in their spare time, a semi-retired person, or someone on maternity/parental leave.
